This survey has been prepared by KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co. and
summarizes the performance of selected banks in Pakistan during
the
year 2007.
Banking sector in Pakistan has been divided in
three categories for the purpose of the survey to ease comparison
of peer groups. Banks with total assets in excess of Rs. 200 billion
are categorised as "Large Size Banks", banks with total
assets from Rs. 76 billion to Rs. 199 billion are categorised as
"Medium Size Banks" and banks with total assets from Rs.
15 billion to Rs. 75 billion are categorised as "Small Size
Banks". Banks with assets below Rs. 15 billion are not included
in the survey.
The information contained in this survey has been
obtained from the
published consolidated financial statements of the banks, statistical
bulletins and quarterly/ annual reports published by State Bank
of
Pakistan (SBP) and information published in business magazines and
newspapers.
Reference should be made to individual published
financial statements
of the banks and definitions given in this survey to enhance the
understanding of ratios and analysis of performance of a particular
bank.
We have tried to provide relevant financial analyses
of the banks,
which we thought would be useful for benchmarking and comparison.
However, we shall appreciate to receive any comments, which would
facilitate in improving the contents of the survey.
